Molly Coombe Photograph Competition 2024

2024 Photo competition graphic

Welcome to the second annual Molly Coombe Photograph competition!

Anybody of any age from 10 upwards may enter any number of times. Prizes of £50 for best photo will be given, one for each category – People, Places, Events and the Environment – plus one for our new youth section from any category. There is also the annual  ‘Ken Irvin Trophy’ awarded for the best overall entry, who will also recieve a large framed print of their winning image. Large prints will also be given to other category winners and entries considered “highly commendable”. Closes midnight Sunday 20th October .

People

This category can feature individuals or groups of individuals from the parish. They may be portraits or people engaged in any activity. Photos in this category can be taken anywhere geographically – for example a village person receiving an award or taking part in a sporting event outside of the village.

Places

Photos in this category can be taken anywhere within the parish boundries. Examples could include the exterior or interior of buildings, views from a vantage point, businesses past and present etc.

Events

Could be village activities, recent or past, like the Coronation and Jubilee celebrations or the Village Festival, Village Show, live music or other performances etc or more personal events such as significant birthdays or Dot’s leaving do at the Bishop John for example.

Environment

This might be related to the flora or fauna within the parish or possibly views that have an environmental aspect to them, making them more suitable here than the places category – countryside, farming, derelict buildings.

New for 2024 – Youth Category

This year we are introducing a £50 youth prize for 10 – 17 year olds to submit photos from any of the above categories. (Under 16s need permission of a parent or guardian).

Top tips

All photographs will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the heritage and personality of Bishopsteignton Parish
  • Originality
  • Public appeal
  • Technical ability

You have up to 8mb file size limit – the larger the original file size generally the better the quality.
